WORLD CYBER GAMES ANNOUNCES NINE OFFICIAL GAME TITLES | WCG News




Seoul, Korea – March 07, 2011 – World Cyber Games Inc. (WCG), organizer of the premier international video game competition and festival, today announced the first official game titles for the WCG 201Grand Final which will be held in Korea this fall. The list features NINE game titles which is distributed in various genres, comprise some of the most popular competitive games available around the world today.

This year's line-up includes popular titles 5 different genres. Especially this year, WCG included the world famous StarCraft® II: Wings of Liberty™ as well as the World of Warcraft®: Cataclysm™in the line-up, as the first MMORPG title in WCG history. Tekken 6, one of the most popular fighting games will thrill the cyber fighters. League of Legends, which was presented as promotion game title last year in WCG, is back again as an official game title and is ready to gather all AOS enthusiasts. On the other hand, best shooters in the world are ready for a treat. Three FPS games, Counter-Strike 1.6, Crossfire, and Special Force are in this year's line-up.

Earlier this year, the WCG Organization announced that they would announce their host city and release their official games list sometime in February for the 2011 event. The German WCG Officials have taken an early step and announced two games that will be played at this years Grand Finals.

On the WCG website for Germany, they announced that both FIFA and Counter-Strike 1.6 to be a part of the Grand Finals. They did not release the host city, but gave an excerpt about both games and mentioned that WCG Europe will be notified as soon as any new game selection is known.

FIFA and Counter-Strike are two of the longest running games to be featured at the WCG Grand finals. Counter-Strike has been a mainstay FPS game for over six years while FIFA has been a game since the conception of the World Cyber Games.

It is unknown if any other FPS game might show up to enable the sponsors to test a new game, but all information should be announced soon. Many fans of Counter-Strike:Source attempted to make a push to get the game included when WCG opened a poll about new games that players would like to see.

WCG to be hosted in South Korea



The World Cyber Games commitee announced that the event will be most probably taking place in South Korea. Some sources from asia also confirmed that WCG 2011 will take place in Busan, located in the southeast of Korea, the country's second biggest city, with a population of around 3.6 million people, and the staff member Sean Lee confirms the rumors:

"We are excited to unveil the official game titles for the 2011 Grand Final and we look forward to another exciting year of competition to crown the best players in the world in Korea,"

With this move, the World Cyber Games returns to South Korea, where it hosted its first four events, from 2000 to 2003. Despite the recent licensing problems with Blizzard, the American video game developer's most famous titles, Starcraft II and World of Warcraft have both been picked. Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne is also a part of the list for this big event.
